Intense Meltdowns
As parents we struggled with our two-year old daughter who was having intense meltdowns with increasing frequency, as well as hitting her older sister. For months we tried many strategies recommended by friends, family and online parenting resources. Nothing seemed to improve her behaviors. It caused significant stress to us and even made us think twice about running errands with her or bringing her to public events.
Within a few weeks of reaching out to Amy our situation improved dramatically and friends started to comment on what a ‘night and day difference’ they noticed in our daughter. We felt very comfortable opening up to Amy. She seemed to have endless strategies for every issue we brought up. Each session was packed full of helpful ideas, and her thoughtful manner and use of comic relief made the sessions enjoyable. And, most importantly, it worked. Even with what seems like very simple changes in how we interact with our daughter, we noticed dramatic improvement in her behavior. We feel equipped with many tools to deal with meltdowns at home and in public. But best of all, after employing strategies that Amy suggested, the meltdowns rarely happen now, and, our daughter seems happier, more confident, and the rest of the family can go back to enjoying normal family life.
The impact she has had on our family has been tremendous. So much so that we have recommended her to many friends and even gave her name to our pediatrician to share with parents of her patients. We firmly believe that the advice she provided to help us now can also be applicable to situations down the road as the girls get older. We can’t thank Amy enough and already know we will not hesitate to turn to her for advice as new challenges arise in the future.
