Amy helped us develop a common parenting approach that gave us the tools…
“When we came to Amy we were facing the unique parenting transition of childhood to pre-teen for our oldest boy. Previously we tried researching online, reviewing blogs, and reading books but ultimately felt like we didn’t know which approach(es) to pick which ended up in an inconsistent jumble that wasn’t good for anyone. And that’s where Amy came in—she listened to our situation, got to know the personality of our oldest and his younger brother, we talked through situations, even role playing through recent challenges, to see what worked and what didn’t. She helped guide us through what tactics work best, even making it personal by relating to her own parenting successes and challenges. Ultimately Amy helped us develop a common parenting approach that gave us the tools to manage situations and make this transition more successful and to see the points of confrontation as an opportunity to engage and build a deeper relationship. This isn’t to say that the challenges magically went away, but they did diminish, and most importantly we feel far more confident in our approach and see this transition as an opportunity to build our bond with our oldest in a new way. Lastly, the request by Amy for the pre-work and post-call work is a must. Yes it’s work, but it creates a referenceable document that we find ourselves returning to for guidance.”
